Put Your Notes Away
Put your notes away before you begin a draft. What you remember is probably what should be remembered; what you forget is probably what should be forgotten. No matter; you’ll have a chance to go back to your notes after the draft is completed. What is important is to achieve a draft which allows the writing to flow.

I almost agree. The one thing I have found to keep handy from my notes is like a thesis cheat sheet: one page, very concise notes on those facts or relationship tics or hot points, time lines, etc., the sort of thing that to get wrong means a whole bunch of really boring copy editing.
My notes are usually 75% of the first draft written, and that's something that still & always surprises me.
This is shit advice. Especially when it comes to writing series books.
