Becoming a Writer is Not a “Career Decision”
Becoming a writer is not a “career decision” like becoming a doctor or a policeman. You don't choose it so much as get chosen, and once you accept the fact that you're not fit for anything else, you have to be prepared to walk a long, hard road for the rest of your days.

I call my self a writer now, but when I first attempted to write a story it was because I thought I could do better or just as well as those that wrote the books or short stories I was reading at the time. Of course, I didn't think I could write as well as some of my author heroes like Ernest Hemingway,John Steinbeck, Mark Twain,Ray Bradbury,C.S Lewis, Stephen King, and Dr.Seuss.
But I fell in love with the process of writing;though I still have a hard time starting.
ive heard 'dont be a writer unless you have to' i think this is true of any art (writing, acting, musician, artist). the thin emotionalism or ego that may lead one into a desire to be an artist will never sustain the actual pursuit of it as a livelihood. it is just too damn hard at times. so unless you have to do it you probably wont.

You don't know how true this quote is. I never thought I would ever be a writer; it took me awhile to even call myself a writer. Even though I know it's going to be a long journey, I believe that I can do it.
